Hunter Region Land Surveying
Getting the details right from the start can make or break a project. Whether you're designing a home, planning a development or verifying a property boundary, accurate site data is key.
At Duggan Mather Surveyors, we conduct land surveys throughout the Hunter Region, including topographical, detail and level surveys to assist in creating building designs.
Topographic surveys involve identifying and mapping the contours of the ground and existing features on the surface, including existing trees, walkways, manholes, buildings, etc. Detail and level surveys are similar in the identification of ground contours; however, they also obtain adjoining property and street information.
Once our surveyors have collated the information we produce plans that are required by architects in the design process. We will provide these plans to you and your nominated architects.
Our surveys will help you:
- Clearly define property boundaries
- Help determine if the land is flood-prone
- Identify if the deed shown by the seller accurately reflects the size of the property

Plans That Support Your Project
Land surveying is more than just drawing lines—it’s about understanding how a property works with its surroundings. Our surveys help you see the full picture by mapping not only your block but also how it connects to streets, neighbours and key natural features. We work with architects, engineers and developers to ensure that every survey plan we produce meets practical needs as well as council expectations.
We tailor every survey to the job. Whether you're building a new home, creating a subdivision or updating your boundary fencing, you’ll get reliable, professional documentation and a team that can explain it all in plain language.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a land survey before buying a house?
Having a survey conducted is a great idea to ensure you know the actual boundaries of the land measured. Our surveyors will check and peg these for you. We also suggest contacting the local council to check the building boundaries and zoning for the property.
What is a lease area survey?
A lease area survey is carried out to determine the area of land or space within a building and is the basis for deciding the rental value of the premises.
What is an 88b Instrument?
An 88b Instrument is a document that accompanies any new plan for registration to create easements, restrictions on use of the land and positive covenants. This document is needed to identify the parties that will benefit and be burdened by the easement, restriction or covenant. Our team will advise the best way to create a plan to suit your requirements and the requirements of your local council.
